The Howard League for Penal Reform is the oldest penal reform charity in Europe. It was established in 1866 and is named after John Howard, one of the first prison reformers. The Howard League is entirely independent of government and is wholly funded by voluntary donations. The League works for humane and rational reform of the penal system. The League research and comment on criminal justice policy and practice, holding conferences and debates, publishing books and reports. They also run projects in schools and prisons, such as the Citizenship and Crime Project which helped to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour by young people. Since 1997, this project has worked with nearly 9,000 children aged 13-14 in 61 secondary schools across London.

The Western Criminology Review (WCR) is a forum for the publication and discussion of theory, research, policy and practice in the rapidly changing and interdisciplinary fields of criminology and criminal justice. The journal is intended to reflect local (Western), national and international concerns. Historical and contemporary perspectives are welcome, as are diverse methodological approaches. Manuscripts that rely upon text and tables are welcome. Authors who use other resources permitted on the internet--e.g., graphics, hypertext links, etc., are also welcome. The publication and distribution of articles will also be accompanied by electronic commentary and discussion.

War Crimes, Genocide, and Crime against Humanity is a multidisciplinary, peer reviewed, open access journal dedicated to understanding the conceptualization, etiology, and prevention of violations of international criminal and humanitarian law. The journal is published in both online and print formats. The journal emphasizes socio-legal and criminological approaches, but solicits manuscripts from other disciplines that address causes, impacts, prevention, redress, and pedagogy related to its subject matter. The editors also welcome review essays which summarize recent scholarly literature. Our intended audience is the international community of scholars and practitioners devoted to understanding and preventing crimes against humanity.
